Pain is a natural protection response our body has when something is wrong. We do not develop or experience pain for no reason. The pain can be for a multitude of reasons. It can be something very simple and low severity, such as joint stiffness, muscle tightness, and just poor mechanics with movement. Or it can be more severe, such as a muscle or tendon tear, ligament tear, fracture, or something more systemic in nature. Regardless of the cause, it is worth your time to find out why. (I am not going to get into the systemic issues at this time, as that requires seeing a physician or specialist to find out what is going on internally.)
If it is something of low severity causing your pain, the sooner you get it addressed the sooner you can get rid of the pain and back to your normal activities. If you ignore the pain, it will likely get worse and become something more severe, keeping you out of your normal activities for much longer.
To compound pushing through pain, your body is great at compensating. Meaning it finds a way to make a movement happen. You can continue functioning like that for a while, but eventually your body will give up and you will be dealing with 2-3 issues rather than the 1 initial issue.
So, stop ignoring your pain! It is not just going to “go away”…I promise!
