Large Goals…Small Goals

Are you struggling to meet your fitness goals? Are you frustrated on your lack of progress towards your goals?

Are you looking at them as a huge process or as small pieces? Setting big goals is important in order to keep you motivated and working hard. But, setting big goals can also be very overwhelming, especially if you don’t feel you are making progress towards them.

Try this instead. Breakyour big goals into smaller, attainable pieces.

There are many ways to break down big goals into smaller, attainable goals.  Here are just a couple examples.

Ultimate Goal: 10 unbroken handstand push ups in 3 months

Smaller pieces:

  • 5 handstand push ups with knees on box
  • 3 handstand push ups on the wall
  • 10 handstand push ups with knees on box
  • 5 handstand push ups on the wall
  • 10 handstand push ups on the wall

Ultimate Goal: Run 5 miles without walking

Smaller pieces:

  • Run 1 mile
  • Walk/run 3 miles
  • Run 3 miles
  • Walk/run 5 miles
  • Run 5 miles

Large goals can seem much more attainable and less frustrating when broken down into smaller goals.   Try this out and see how it works for you.  My guess is you will be able to meet your goals sooner than you thought!
